Steering column shroud
After removing the steering wheel, how does the shroud come out? It looks like 2 halves that snap together but I tried everything to separate it to no avail and broke it in the process. After getting it off, I still could not separate it at the seams. Looks like mine is glued together. Am I missing something?

I was wondering that myself before I realized I didn't have to mess with it to get at the ignition assembly in my 84sd.

How are the stalks installed in a one piece unit?

you take off the steering wheel, and it comes out the top.
also the stalks come out the side...

FSM says to remove the stalks first, then the shroud comes off in one piece. Doh! What threw me off was: close inspection of the jacket tube looks as if it was made in 2 peices snapped together, but it did not want to un-snap! I should have a spare from my 240D.
