Question on alternator bracket clearance.

Hello, I recently had to replace my alternator bracket. The new bracket only clears the alternator cooling fins by about 1/16-1/4 of an inch. Haven't had any problems yet but was wondering if there was supposed to be a minimum clearance distance? Thanks
