Replacement shock question
Hi- As always thank you all!
So I follow all the procedures for replacing the front shocks on the '83 300TD, doing a search with good results. I remove one side and there's the shock with the dust boot on top with the rubber donut inside the dust boot, so the top of the dust boot is flush with the underside metal. (rubber donut on the top side is properly there with nut and metal washer/top) The other side of the car has the rubber donut on the outside of the dust boot, so it is against the metal of the car, with no rubber donut inside. Which is the correct way? It seems like the PO or some mechanic did it differently on each side, which can't be correct. Help? Thanks
