Passenger side mirror options
I looked at an '82 300D sedan today for a friend on LI who may be interested in it. It does not have a passenger side mirror, only the chrome filler plate. What is involved in adding either a manual or power mirror?

Not much once you get a unit.
plate snaps off (hold onto the little clip or you will have to go back to a junkyard to get another one...ask me how I know). There are holes for the 3 screws that hold the mirror on. Pop it in and slip the new inner plate on. If it's a manual mirror, the plate has a hole for the adjustment knob. The adjustment knob itself comes off the rod by slipping the part closest to the front windshield toward the windshield, then the knob slides off toward the back of the car. I recently replaced an automatic with a manual unit in the 240D since I have no auto controls for the mirrors and my DS unit is manual. Power unit has a plug that I presume attaches to a connector that runs through the door and behind the plate.
