Balo rotors, only 5 months old, getting flutter
Thought I was having problems with guide rod or tierods on my 1985 300 SD, but it seems like the rotors are warped. Put a dial indicator on the front rotors and they are .004" out within one rotation. Both have the same amount of warp...
Would this be enough to give an unpleasant feeling while brakes are applied above 40mph? Are Balo rotors any good?

I believe that Balo rotors are good quality. Not to start a holy war, but there is a school of thought that "warping" doesn't really exist in the sense we all imagine it to. See:
http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_warped_brakedisk.shtml I am just one anecdotal example, but I followed the basic break-in instructions at that link, and I have had exceptionally good service from my front disks, much longer lasting than the previous pair I had put on. I also convinced a friend to try it and he has had excellent results from his Jaguar. All the above presumes that your brake system is in good shape to begin with, no sticky / corroded calipers, flex lines not swelled or collapsed, etc. Rgds, Chris W. '95 E300D, 337K
