Are 115 side mirrors the same as 123?
 

Going through some boxes of parts today I came across a set of side mirrors I had taken off a 115 1976 300D and thought they sure looked like the ones on my 240d. Upon closer comparison it appears they are the same assembly other than the plate that secures them to the door. Does anyone know if they are interchangeable?

I don't think so.

They are close, and you may be able to get them to work, but I do not think that they are a straight interchangeable swap. I gave an extra one that I had to a friend for his 123 and it didn't fit his car. Not sure what year his 123 was, so I don't know if that makes a difference.
