New 300D Owner needs help

Just bought a 1985 300D W123 yesterday. What a car. I noticed that the warning light cover on the cluster on the right hand side is missing. Anybody tell me what the cover that is missing indicates and where possibly I may get one. Thanks

Not sure I understand your question. Your dash looks normal to me.

If it is the plastic piece that covers the warning lights, PM me, I have one you can have.
If you dont want to wait, the best thing to do is, go find a junk yard and pull the speedo cluster out. Maybe check the buy parts tab up above and CALL Phil he may be able to get one for you. He has tons of parts available that are not listed in the online cataloge

From far right to left: amber glow plug light, gap, seatbelt light, gap.

It's a slide-in plastic strip. A junkyard should have one, assuming the clusters aren't all removed, or it's possible someone on the forum has one they'd part with.

I presume you'd also want an owner's manual.

The missing strip indicates the cluster was pulled at some point. Pretty common action to fix stuff behind it. You may want to take a peek under the dash to make sure the oil line to the pressure gauge is on snug. Do a little research on the cluster, the rheostat, speedo, the odometer and the dash lights and you'll see it's no big deal to remove the cluster and probably a skill you'll develop quickly.

methinks he is asking about the stencils that show various things operating.
I think GP light is over there... not sure what else, I don't drive the 85 much. likely they fell down. you should be able to open the cluster, and put them back in if they did.

X2

If it is still there you may need to remove a panel under the steering wheel so that you can put your hand up and behind the speedometer cluster to push it out towards you (into the cabin away from the dashboard). Whilst you are there you might even find some loose warning lights!

Oh and welcome to the forum JD!

They slide in like this. The stenciling is on the front, so be careful wiping it clean if you find it.

Just tried to pop the cluster out to try and find the missing warning light plastic indicator. In doing so, I broke the cluster. So I need a new one. If anyone has one for sale, please PM me. Thanks.

JD, picture/s of the broken cluster? What part is broke? The cluster is made of many discrete pieces. I have a few from rebuilding my own.
