Mystery Coolant Rebalancing

Hi,

First off, before the overflow bottle hose started dripping, my car would use/loose zero coolant. I have no leaks at this point.

I did replace the overflow bottle to radiator hoseand overfilled the system. Worked all air out of the hoses, etc. The bottle was filled nearly to the top.

Have driven maybe 500 miles since, no leakage, and the bottle is back to perfect!

Yet, the overflow hose area is dry:

Again, I overfilled the bottle, squeezed all the hoses so that water would flow in all of them, and after the first few cycles, the water level was still nearly at the top.

What happened?

The odd thing is that the area near the heater pump IS wet, with nothing leaking or any signs of why.

Any ideas?
