There certainly are some ' calibrated ' wires in some cars.... Ford used to use one instead of a ' normal easy to recognize resister' in the ignition ... the part where cars used 6 volt coils in 12 volt cars except for when starting... then ran on the knocked down ( via resistance wire ) 6 volts normally...
