Bumping an old thread, but I just replaced my trailing arm bushings using essentially the homebuilt tool from this thread. I made a video of the process that I figured might help some folks. The video only covers pressing the bushings in and out. It does not cover removal and/or installation of the trailing arms:

perfect timing

Thanks for loading that on Youtube and posting it here.
I'm getting ready to do this job this weekend.
I've been reading threads, but a picture(or a video) is worth a thousand threads!

Thanks,
Jeff

No problem. I've been trying to do more DIY videos for the W123. This job was a good opportunity for that. I was able to practice the job on one side of the car and then film it on the other side.

Honestly, it's a pretty easy job. The bushings pressed out and in without any brute force. The tool works well. The only downside is that it takes quite a bit of time to thread everything into place by hand.

I'm doing a W126 but basically the same.
24" on the all thread?

Do you have a video on the subframe bushings?
Haven't really found a good one on that yet.

Jeff

I don't recall the length of the allthread. I know in the video I said it was 1/2", but I think I mis-spoke. Page 1 of this thread is what I followed. It should be 5/8" by 24".

No video on the subframe bushings. At least, not yet. Originally, I was planning on reusing them. The passenger side looked just barely passable. The driver side disintegrated in my hand when I took that side apart. New ones are on order. New ones should be going in in a few days.
