ATE Brake calipers

HI, I have a 87 300 TDT and I ordered all new brake stuff for the front and rear. The caliper I ordered has only one piston. ( I thought it was supposed to be like the old one ) Anyways all the websites say it is a direct replacement and this particular caliper is pictured alot of the time. So I can't see how it will work, the pads surely won't fit it and I don't see how it will slide to engage both sides of the rotor. It seems that this one is the only one available now. Anyone ever used this caliper on their car? What pads does it take? Is there a different bracket required?

ick.
that's what my original calipers looked like. I hate sliding calipers. opposing pistons work MUCH better.

I do not see how it could. the mounting flange is wider on the sliding ones...
perhaps a mount plate needs to come out first?

I think they can work IF they shipped you a mounting plate, and the bolts with the bellows. do you have a pic of everything they shipped you?

you must have an early 87.
if you do not have everything needed to install those, I can strip stuff off one of my parts cars for you.

I don't recall, but thought that all 124s except the V-8 got the single-pistoin caliper in the front until the M104 '94/'95.

This is the caliper that mine had, although I updated as John did to the 4-puck brakes. I do have the entire front brake assembly from the car (the single-puck floating caliper setup) so let me know if John doesn't have what you need (although we get really punished when shipping to Canada).

Maybe you can find out what brakes are on your car, someone might have changed to a later brake like the E320 & V-8 brake. Do you have the replaceable-type ball-joints in your lower control arm (early version) or the welded-in version ('94-'95 version)?

She is original, I am sure. All they sent is the caliper itself, that is what is confusing me. The original has a two piston set up like the rear does it not?

Original is a single-piston floating (sliding) caliper in the US, unless something is different in Canada it should be the same 1-piston floating caliper in front and 2-piston in the rear.

Have you run it on the EPC with your VIN?

C Holmes,

Your pictures are of the front, and the rear calipers. The front caliper on a 87 300D is a single piston the, rear is dual.
