Some pics of my 1980 300SD...

Just some pics of the car and some goodies it came with. It's an '80 but it has a non-EGR motor changed, modified? I think the metal plate was some sort of dealer thing used to track maintenence

I also have the Becker in the trunk.

It also has some fuse box weirdness and a bit of rust I sold my "Regular car" and plan on getting/keeping this one in good shape. I think it's worthy of some care.

I've noticed 3 phases of old MB life.

1-Owner has $$ and cares about car
2-Owner cares about car but won't spend $$
3-Beater. Driven like a hated pack mule

I have one late stage 1 car and one late stage 2 car...

Back in the pre-computer era, weren't these used to imprint the vehicle and owner data on the work order when warranty work was carried out?

It looks like they used a thing like an addressograph used in hospitals or an old credit card machine. I have some service records that have the metal plate data imprinted on them.

Anyone have any ideas about why I have a non-egr in a 1980? I wanted a '79 for that reason.

Looks like it has a single diaphragm vacuum pump with a double diaphragm bracket mounted above it. Wonder if the single diaphragm was a retrofit? If so, it would be useful knowledge to know it can be done. The double diaphragm pumps are rare and rebuild kits expensive.

I'll post some pics closer than 18"

I'm guessing this would be good news?

These are my two. Are they single or double?
