300SD starts - stalls problem?

1981 300SD turboD

Unfortunately I may hear from WVO opponents now but I may deserve it;

I've run my diesels on WVO down here in tropic climate Florida on & off for 5 yrs roughly..

Just recently started using a new chinese restaurant's used oil since it's harder to come by and I know the owners pretty well. ( Great MooShoo)

I've run about 10 - 15 gallons recently and problem started now where engine just lost all rpms and stalled out on me. I barely made it back home 2 days ago.

I didn't get a new fuel filter on yet, but aside from dirty filters any does this sound like I may have mucked injectors and if so, any easy solutions literally I can use to unclogg them..?

Thanks,

........

Changing the Filters will tell you if the problem is else where.

The Fuel Pressure/Over Flow Valve that controls fuel supply pressure to the Fuel Injection Pump Housing may be gunked up.

You can remove it and spray Carburetor Cleaner in all of the holes and let it soak. After that if you can blow it out with low pressure compressed air.

Some of the Pressure Relief Valves have a screwed in Plug that allows you to take the Valve apart and you will see the Spring and the Ball Bearing that is used as a Valve inside. Other cannot be taken apart.

Hear is a thread on the above valve:
Fuel pressure relief valve adjustment

It is also possible that the Valves inside of the Fuel Supply Pump are gunked up and not seating well.
The Fuel Supply Pump can be taken apart and cleand also.

It is also possible that a Diesel Purge could free up the above mentioned items.

Hey D911,

Thanks,.will read more of this thread when I have more time...(alot more..)

but the Fuel Pressure/Over Flow Valve sounds like a good idea after new filters..

This is an '81 with approx 330,000 on her, and even when it's running the last few years it is very sluggish from 0 - 50 or so.

Q: Can you describe where the Fuel Pressure/Over Flow Valve is exactly and if any tips on how to remove /clean/ reinstall....also greatly appreciated.
