Blower Motor Brushes Help
 

I can't seem to find the brushes to repair my 300td Blower motor. I went to a local auto electric place, and they said they can't get the brushes, same with ace hardware, grainger, and anyone else I can think of.

Does anyone have a part number or know of a source to get the brushes? I really need to get this wrapped up, and I can go to the junkyard to get one, but I don't have a way of testing it out.

I just went to the local Ace Hardware and started browsing through their brush drawers. I found some slightly bigger and cut and sanded them down to size. Pretty easy.

That's what I had to do, except it was an "electric motor repair shop" instead of a hardware store. Just went through the drawers until I found something that could be trimmed to fit.

If you use sandpaper to get them down to the right size... just do NOT use ' wet and dry' the typical Silicon Carbide...
and that applies to cleaning the copper armature also... flint sandpaper and good cleaning afterwards is better... the insulation between the copper segments needs to be undercut slightly ...which can be done by hand with a filed to correct size hack saw blade....and the armature can easily be cleaned by rotating with a drill and holding a strip of that sandpaper around it while revolving... quit as soon as it is shiny...
It is typical standard operating procedure to freshen the armature when replacing the brushes... for longer life...
