Instrument cluster lights

My 1984 300TDT has lost the cluster and control panel lights. I have replaced the fuse (#12), and all the other devices that utilize that fuse are functional, but no lights in the instrument cluster or any of the other lights on the dash, such as the climate control, accessory buttons etc. What else could be the culprit?

Thanks in advance.

This may sound silly but have you perchance turned the dimmer all the way up? The one for your dash lights.

I've had two bad dimmers on '80 300SD's which caused the same problem. Maybe turning the knob back and fourth would help?

Yeah, the dimmer switch is the usual culprit. You may be able to solder a jumper wire in back to keep it on full when the lights are on.

Unless using the dimmer is important to you I would second toomany MBZ'z suggestion.

Even having a dimmer pot on these things is kind of funny! But I'm sure not very when it isn't working.
