^ navara = frontier. Love the existing generation, super simple rugged and raw. Utilitarian and basic, in stark contrast to just about every other pickup in NA recent market, can get them with a manual trans. I liken them to a ranger but a bit nicer. I imagine the MB and new gen is anything but that, which is kind of sad.

They did a swap with Nissan. Gave them the GLA which is available in the US as an Infinity (can't remember the name). Got one for a rental, interior exactly like the GLA but it has the Infinity logo on the otherwise MB looking wheel.
I read the MB truck not coming to the US previously. Too many US specific regulations to warrant the effort for projected sales. I think we are past the point now of MB bringing anything else diesel powered to the US.

No, not at all. The previous gen Navara was the current gen Frontier. This new Navara is completely different and has nothing in common with the Frontier sold here. It will never be brought to the US because it's not designed to meet our safety regulations.

I would be at the dealer today, if they offered it here with a diesel and a manual transmission. Would take very little to meet our regs. It's not coming here because of the 25% chicken tax.

Why pay Mercedes money for a Nissan? Is badge that important to you?

If MB thought they could make money by bringing it or other cars into the US they would. Are you ( and a bunch of others ) willing to pony up lots of $ to bring it to the US? If the truck is a sales win, you get some % of the profits. If the truck fails to turn a profit, you will invest more $ in an attempt to keep it afloat. If it fails completely, you lose everything. Still want it to see it come to the US? |
