OM60x Vacuum Pump Quick Question

I am reassembling my 603 and I got a used, new style vacuum pump to put on, looks good, very clean, bearings are nice. I got a new gasket from the dealership for it. The old gasket was like paper, this new gasket is very thin stamped steel. Do I need to use any additional sealant with it?

Also, is there a torque spec for the vacuum pump bolts listed? I looked at the FSM and all I could find was things like "reinstall vacuum pump" but no mention of torque specs.

I just did mine and zero leaking...thanks to the pit crew here.

Many said no sealant & some favor very little. What I did was sprayed a very very light coating of Permatex Tack on both sides and let it cure overnight.

There are a couple of things to know:

If you now have the metal gasket version with a dam i.e. what appears would create a oil little reservoir behind it you need to check to see if there is a metal "basket" held in place where the pump drops into the timing gear area. If the basket is there it needs to be removed or one of the basket bolt heads will interfere with the gasket. Mine is gone with no ill effects.

Also during installation you want to make sure the timing gear is rotated so the pump roller meets with a low spot on the timing gear vacuum pump ramp.
