Be sure that they're ball-seat.

Forget the Kalamazoo LKQ then, no 126s.

i spent at least two hours more like three driving from store to store and found no lug bolts. I did find a fourway with 17mm on one of the arms but resisted the $20 price tag and the fact that I really did not want it in my trunk. We made it home without further incident and when I filled it up I got 26 running 75 for about 95 miles and 65 for 95 miles. Paid $2.15 which is cheaper than I paid in Lafayette. NOrmally Michigan is higher. So I think we are getting ripped off in Lafayette.

Thanks for all the comments!

And the phone call to poke gentle fun at me!

I already did that trick last night. There was a vibration and I began to believe I had a cv joint going out, then it got so bad I thought a tire was coming apart, so I got off and I was down to 2 very loose lugs on the rr. It seems this car (which I just got into service a couple of months ago has a beautiful jack and spare but a Chebby lug wrench!

I eventually borrowed a socket and ratchet from a generous man driving a ford diesel truck towing a 42' travel trailer!

I felt like a real dummy without a proper lug wrench!
Take a very close look at the metal around the holes & the hub to make sure there are no cracks. You dont need some thing failing at 60mph!

My Pleasure !!!
LOL

So lets review what we concluded when talking today..

1. You and all of us KNOW YOU KNOW BETTER than to go off without a proper lug wrench...

2. Your race car is taking up too many of your brain cells......

I'm now offended that you didn't stop for free lug bolts.

I don't know why you guys run these diesels anymore.

I got a solid 26 mpg in my E430 going 80 mph in 100% freeway driving when we last went to Las Vegas.

The one time I'm not in Kalamazoo... and somebody needs help with their car.

It's also almost like the time that I got stuck after the tire in my mom's old convertible shredded when I was driving home from seeing my wife. The lug wrench that was in the trunk that worked the jack was not the right size for the tires. I had to hitch a ride at 3am to the nearest Meijer's to get a lug wrench... That was a night.

Let this be known on the forums that I'm willing and able to help anybody in Southwest Michigan as needed. If I was in town, I would have shown up with my socket set and torque wrench and been a personal transportation until the situation was fixed. It's the least I can do for these forums that have helped me out so much.

I felt certain if we had a forum member close I could get help. Too bad you were out of town! Thanks anyway!

I have a friend who had a boat on a trailer behind his car and looked out his side window to see it passing him on a hill!

Old habits die hard. But in my case I have very little invested in this car and it has a fresh motor and fresh interior. It is also rust free but needs paint.

How much do you have invested in your E430? What about the repair bills if something goes south?

I also get 20 around town, how does the E430 do around town?

My E500 gets better mileage, goes faster, and is cheaper to maintain than my diesels; but I hate driving it. The diesels are toys, the E500 is just transportation.

I bought the car for about $15K several years ago, and apart from regular maintenance (fluid changes, tires, etc.), I have replaced the Throttle Position sensor and the crank reference sensor, which cost about $500-ish.

In town I get about 19 mpg.
