With AC on, Black cloud Follows

to My dismay today, I was running my AC on the way home from the Train yard, and I noticed a HUGE Cloud of black smoke on take off from a stop, it stopped with the AC off... something I should be concerned with? normally I dont have these huge clouds following me around like this. I know I have a vac leak on the boost circuit still, where it is I dont know...Still working on that..

any lightning from the clouds? or just rain? be a better person?
I think those black clouds are warnings that the earth is tired of everyone getting cool air but her.

Mine smokes with the a/c on and I consider it normal. It seems to be the natural diesel response to "increased engine load"... just watch the semis on the road sometime. Black smoke under heavy acceleration or heavy load-pulling; less when coasting or running "easy". On every MB diesel I've ever driven that was equipped with air conditioning, the a/c compressor has been a seemingly disproportionate load on the engine compared to what other cars seem to do. These MB diesels are the only cars I've ever driven (admittedly, I haven't been around all that long) where the a/c reduces your acceleration time by not only a measurable amount but a significant amount. I blame the smoke on this extra load and go on about my business. I have to turn the air off in my 240D to get up hills...

On my 124, I had the same situation. Changing the air filter worked for me.

Also keep in mind that the AC puts additional demands on the engine, which will cause it to work harder & smoke.

I'd try the simple things first...

Mine doesn't smoke with the A/C on, nor have any of my prior 124 diesels. I drove a test mule 300TD many years ago flat-out with the A/C on and didn't have any smoke either, I did blow a coolant hose though ;~(

Hard to say why it smokes, I'd suspect either intake air issues or possibly the turbo is weak if your ALDA has been adjusted, do you have a boost gauge?

Alda to my knowledge is untouched. If it was buggered with It was done before I got it. I see hints at the turbo. I know I have a leak or two in the boost signal Circuit, that may have something to do with it... I drove out again today with the AC on, Not as bad as before but I could still see some black on takeoffs

is the egr intact or bypassed? that'll SUPER soot up the crossover, and the intake and seriously reduce the air the motor can process resulting in black smoke.

I suggest that whatever mechanism these cars have to adjust the fuel according to load...is maladjusted...
it is not normal or correct for the engine to smoke just because there is more load .. that puff of smoke on trucks it just the result of the compensating mechanism not being able to adjust during the shifting and quick changes in load... this is an air/ fuel ratio problem.

EGR is Disabled, But still there. Crossover pipe and intake was cleaned last year november. It was Clooooged with Soot, I had that done the same time that I had the injectors replaced.
