Ah I see now, My step dad drives the 240D not I. I'll ask him and see. My only concern is it being an automatic I will have to worry about the transmission. I kind of also like that the 240D gets fairly decent MPG's. $40 a week is all my step dad puts in it to get him to and from work and such.
I don't know I'll talk to him PM some pics and all that needs to be done and etc. He may want to trade since he is probably growing tired of driving a manual all the time. |

So, the aux fan does not come on at all with the AC on. What do I need to start looking at to trouble shoot it

I'm going to pull the valve cover, maybe this week or even tomorrow, and paint it with some aluminum engine paint I have left over from when I did my Delorean engine. I hope I have primer. Should come out looking nice.

So I have yet to get around to painting the valve cover, I'd like to do it.
But today I finally remembered to replace the broken linkage and install the new all metal linkage. I kept the old broken plastic set that was actually holding very well with the zip ties. So that is a spare in the event of some sort of failure. I am also tempted to wrap the 300D in a matte black vinyl or something. |

scratch the antenna off the list. It works now!
I pulled my $10 antenna out of the car and cracked the body open to discover one of the plastic gears was broken at the clutch catch. essentially just like this photo credit: http://www.k6jrf.com/hirsch_gears_broken.jpg I had another antenna in a parts bin that was incorrect for my car but it had the correct gears. Swapped them in and viola! Working power antenna, so excited for something other than my CD's! also, the outer antenna seal just goes over the chrome for the mast or does the chrome bolt go over the seal. Replaced the carpets on the side of the console today, the originals looked nasty and had some stains that would not come out
Nice, clean, newer carpets! I like it when I am able to replace something and instantly see an improvement. It makes me happy. I cannot wait to do the dash and front seats. That will show a massive improvement. |

I found a new valve cover gasket so I just need to get around to doing it. I think next week I'm going to order tires. I bought 5 silver wheels so no need to paint then right away. But I will redo them this winter when the humidity is down.

Got around to getting at least the passenger seat in. I prefer tex so much more than leather.
Before After. I had to swap the tracks, it was rather straight forward and a cake walk. Drivers seat tomorrow! Then the dash! Anyone need blue leather seat skins? If not they are going in the trash. |

MB TEX looks so much better than cracked leather.

Ran into an issue swapping out the drivers side seat. The plug for the motors is more than what came on the donor sear tracks. I think the drivers side memory module is to blame for the unnecessary amount of wires and plugs. I do not believe I can swap the wiring from the donor seat bottom to the current set of tracks and expect them to work with the switch.
In that case I can either cut and re solder the ends of the wires to the type that matches the plugs or I can swap the seat skins them selves. In other news on the improvement of my 300D, I ordered a vacuum pump, again. From a different website and its listed as a Pierburg, shows a Pierburg, their warehouse only has Pierburgs, and my bill says Pierburg. Plus I paid a lot less and had a coupon code for $3 off. Those geeky guys that sell parts sure know how to get business. The pump is shipping from ft lauderdale. Sweet! Last edited by TheDon; 08-03-2012 at 11:07 PM. |

The old pumps bearing was fine, the plastic cage was intact, but I guess better safe than sorry at some point. It was rather straightforward but I ran into a snag putting it back on. I ended up loosening the belt tensioner a bit so I could get it to slide into place nicely. Other than that it was smooth. My engine has the timing basket in place so I had to use the other gasket, I was thinking about removing it but I had the gasket. Inspected the timing roller coaster thing and its fine, no signs of major wear and tear. really easy job if you have everything ready and in place. Now to take it for a decent drive and check for oil leaks. |
