Transmition adjustment ?
I have two mercedes diesels, a 1984 190D and a 1992 300D. In the pictures is some kind of adjustment for the tranny, what is it and what does it do? I have them on both my cars.

Looks like a Bowden cable. It provides the transmission with information about how much fuel you're giving it.

Yes Bowden cable. It controls shift points. Lots of posts about it here.

Like time between shifts? Holds you in a gear long or shorter? |

RPM vs shift points. The shorter you adjust the cable, the later it will upshift and earlier downshifts (as in having the pedal down further). The longer you adjust it, earlier upshifts and later downshifts.
