New Look

Well I finally bit the bullet and installed my refinished junkyard bundt wheels on my 240D. I like the hub cap look better however with two bent rims i didn't feel safe driving on the interstate. These will have to do until I get a set of aluminum rims that will take the hub caps unfortunately that will most likely have to wait until I get the car and hub caps painted.

Great job

You did a really nice job on painting the bundts.

I know what you mean about them, though -- I like certain colours (example, dark blue) with the bundts, but mostly I would prefer the hubcap on the steel wheels.

Which aluminum rims will accept hubcaps?

I must say I am amazed at the difference in handling between the alloys and the steelies... i don't know what the difference in weight is but its noticeable

The bundts look great! BTW, I always thought your car was painted orient red, but looking at the bigger photo it definitely looks different. Medium red?

Also, offrampwilly's posting has been up on ebay for a while. He may have a set of 240 D 5.5 alloys, but the picture is of steel wheels.

I happen to have a complete set (5) of light alloy disc wheels on ebay. Price is higher than this sellers, but I'm flexible if/when you're ready.

It's a great color. I had a 77 300D that was the same color. It had parchment color interior, which was really dirty. The parchment color it almost white. I think the red would look great with a black interior. A Medium red wagon with black interior would be awesome.

I always looked at your car with the hubbies, but now that it has the bundts you have the option to dress it up for the occasion you want

Some might disagree with me, but in MB-speak, that's a nice "upgrade"

lol... i really like the way the car looks with the bundts and the hubbies but it does look more "dressed up" with the bundts and more classic with the hubbies

Duplicolor T178 AKA BGM0535... its a GM color but it is a almost perfect match for the bundts

Great looking car! I used to own one with the same interior exterior combo that you have.

What paint did you use for the Bundts? Any special tips on application? It looks like a professional job to me.

I asked the same question and got this response in the post before yours:-
