Nice car but ...

What is the downside if a car is parked for a long time or driven very little?

Dealer car and I suspect either the dealers name changed or it may be the dealer where some issues with a couple of deals occured years ago. Nice looking car but twice it's worth in my opinion. Or currently I would pay no more than 10k if the car checked out well.

Nice car! I love the color combo.

But...

I cannot stand that fender well trim. That is asking for trouble and makes an elegant car look "tacky".

Ain't no way it has 36,000 miles being that dirty underneath. I have one outside right now (different car) that never sees a garage, gets driven on dirt roads and in the rain and you can eat off the bottom of it @ 87,000 miles.

There are a few red flags. But, it sure looks nice in the photos!!

I don't know. What could one possible buy for 10k that would come even close to the value of this car, or for that matter last as long.

The same dealer had almost an identical car one a few months back and it sold in the mid to high 20's. It's at 20k now.

A few years ago, a friend here sold a 84 300CD with a little over 30k miles for $25K. His car was probably nicer (and more original) than this one, down to the factory assembly marks still showing on the rubber hoses. He bought it with similar miles, never drove it anyplace but shows, and eventually sold it to another collector. It was very nice, but I don't really understand the point of owning a car that you can't drive.

I figure for most car enthusiest its about owning the car not driving it everyday as a commuter.Eventually the car gets sold and makes room for another toy, hopefully for what they bought it for or more. Its not everyday you see a car that has all the factory markings ,did anyone notice the non-sunroof option ,my guess it rains so much in the Portland area the dealers dont see it as a negative when ordering a spec car for its showroom. The registration shows it as the Portland area for its origination so the dealer owned idea is not so hard to fathom.

I'd expect to see some crumbling rubber and rust on polished / shiny internal engine and gearbox surfaces (if you were to look for it!) at the very least.

But for this car I guess that isn't really a problem - I can't see it being used - it will probably be put in a plastic bubble to be preserved for the next few years until the time has come to sell it again.

At the moment the bid is just above $20,000 => I don't think you could restore one to that standard for that amount of money. Nice car.
