w210 engine moves when i work the suspension
ok i been trying to see if the shocks are bad by jumping on the bumper to make the car bounce..i did this with the hood up and noticed that the engine moves when the car bounces. this is not normal is it?

You may have a bad engine mount (or two). They are good for about 100,000 miles and then they collapse (they are pneumatic).

but isnt the engine mounted to the subframe which should not move when the suspension goes up and down?

Yes, but it is mounted via flexible mounts which is what keeps your teeth from rattling out of your head while it running.
You can measure them to see if they are good or not. From the top most rubber rim to the frame they are 17mm when new. At 13mm they are considered to be collasped. Use a feeler gauge. My 10mm socket is 13mm dia.
