Removing ERG computer
What are the implication of removing the EGR computer?
I want to move the EGR computer from my wagon to my sedan because I'm in the process of moving the tachometer to the sedan. Both are 1985's, but the sedan didn't have a tach originally. What else does the EGR computer do? How will the wagon run without it? Thanks for any tips!

If it turns out that the egr (<= is it really called that?) is important for the tachometer I think you'll be better off getting hold of a pre-1985 tachometer for your sedan... just a gut feeling though. Check with toomany?

I recommend to not take that course of action.
First off, the system is too complicated for only tachometer functions. If you want a tach, then use the "tach amp" system from pre-'84 turbo vehicles. Much simpler and easier to retrofit then the '84-85 systems. See link in the post I wrote. You will need a front balancer sensor, tach amp with base port, and a two prong tachometer from a pre-84 turbo 300D. Adding a tach to my euro 84 300TD, what do I need? If you do remove the EGR computer and you still use the wagon, then you'll loose all emission control functions (which seems you don't care about), tach functions and most importantly, A/C operations. Removing this will render the A/C useless. .

Thanks for posting that link. That def helped.
Does anyone know the color wires that go to the tach sensor? I think it's White and Brown/white striped. Also, how does the ERG receive power?

After a bit more research, it looks like power comes through the Klima relay via a Black/Blue wire.
Can I bypass the Klima relay and run 12V power directly to the black/blue wire?
