It turns out that the wire beneath fuse #4 which connects it to the fuse box was kind of loose and the little rubber sleeve had slid down a bit. I slide the slleve back into posistion and what do you know. All fogs are working again.

Glad you got it fixed.

I checked on my 1990 300D & it only has the two fog lights in front and not the third in the rear.

Me too. I'm not quite sure why some have three fogs and others don't.
