plastic vacuum lines, and fixing defroster arm

1983 300SD W126

I'm missing the red/white vacuum line that runs from the climate control vacuum manifold(?) topmost valve to the pink actuator (#38 on diagram) that opens the defroster nozzles.

1. Where do I get this tubing/line/hose (and what is it called?) - along with the rubber elbows that might be required to make the joins, or any turns?

2. Am I okay to just cap that vacuum valve right now, because I don't like that hiss whenever I have the CC control in zero position? Chewing gum okay?

3. The control arm that this actuator works has a cup on the end that the actuator pin sits in, and half of that cup has broken away. What kind of plastic or metal sleeve/collet/whatever might I superglue onto the arm to strengthen/repair the "cup" end?

(Am I missing the boat by looking at these plastic vacuum tubes and going WTF? Are they really excellent and robust, and I should just shut up and not dare to substitute plain poly tubing? besides corrupting the inspired MB color scheme I mean? )

If you do not care what color the Plastic Tubing is you could uses the Nylon Tubing sold at regular auto part stores; the type used for Oil Pressure Gauges. (They may even have generic Vacuum Tubing; I have never ask for any so I do not know.)

Some internet part places sell the correct color. You just need to take sometime and shop.

If you go up to the parts tab and find Fastlane I believe you will find "ASK Phil" he will find parts and give price quotes and expedite shipping.

Ah! Found it at my local Pull-a-part!

but... now I need to find a climate control vacuum diagram for a 1983 300SD.

I found this map, and I think it's for a 1985 W126 gasser, but it only shows one red-white hose going to #38 (the one I have, from another '83, is part of a Y-connection,) and the red-blue hose is routing differently:

poking around, I've found a total of six vacuum pods:
Two 2-way pods behind the glove box, operating the fresh-air flap (#42 and #43,)
One 2-way pod beside the glove box, pointing forward and down 45deg (defroster #38?)
One 1-way pod below the center dash registers, facing forward into the heater core (don't know which?)
One 1-way pod behind the radio, facing left (don't know which?)
One 1-way pod seen from driver footwell at firewall, facing up (don't know which?)

Is that all the pods? Some don't appear to operate or even hiss, no matter which button I press on the switch box.
