Talking Biodiesel Cheaper Than Diesel San Francisco Bay Area

I found a new place that just open to the public to fill up on B99 biodiesel. The price for biodiesel today is $4.05/g which is less than 30 cents/g for diesel in the cheapest gas station locally. It is located at 851 49th Avenue, Oakland (just off San Leandro Blvd). Drive into the parking lot (if the gate is close, go to the office and somebody will open for you), and park your car/truck next to the dispensing tranker truck. Somebody from the office will come out and fill your tank. I recently filled up my tank plus four 5-gallon containers. The engine now purrs and it smokes so much less. This is a big operation and they are supplying biodiesel to schools and large companies. I'm so glad they are now open to the public. Remember this is not a "station" - you are dispensed biodiesel directly from a metered tanker with a pump. The biodiesel is made onsite and it's good stuff (surpass ASTM). Check their website included in the link:

Wow, very nice! Here B99 is always $1 more than diesel.

It is nice to know that some good is coming from the higher Fuel Prices. Maybe that will help boost the Biodiesel Industry.

Before you are overjoyed with price of B99.

Please be reminded that B99 gets a tad less mileage compared to #2 diesel.

The energy content of B99 is about 9 or 10 % less ( depends on raw materials ) but it makes up the difference with better lubrication and more clean burning. The end result in the best scenario may be a wash but I don't know. It is definitely better for the car and the environment. If is cheaper then it is even better.

We've got the same situation in Houston. Biodiesel is $3.25/gal while diesel is anywhere from $3.54/gal to $4.59/gal.

I'd like to run biodiesel in my car but I can't find any around here Do the rubber hoses need to be changed before you run it? I know it's a concern with WVO and such.

BioDiesel In Oakland....

Thanks for the heads-up on the Oakland bio connection. I live in the South Bay but do get up to the East Bay fairly often.
If anybody's interested: there is B20 available at the Rotten Robbie station at Piedmont & Berryessa in San Jose. Price is typically slightly higher than D2. My car loves the B20 and gets better mileage with it too!
Cheers!
Chris

And it doesnt require souls as payment.

It's cheaper and it isn't costing us the lives of our sons and daughters as they "promote democracy" or protect oil supplies, whichever you prefer.

In the past Diesel Giant said that if you use new Hose you are going to get several years of use. If keep your old Hose it may leak soon.

The regular auto part stores have 5/16" Fuel Injection Hose SAE J30R9 or 30R90 (SAE 30R7 is the Regular Fuel Hose.)
The Fuel Injection Hose is lined with what members have said is Viton.

That leaves the Injector Return lines and those can be taken care of with Viton Hose or some members have found the Gasoline powered Weed Wacker Plastic Fuel Line holds up.
One of the members used:The brand I used is Oregon (like the Chain Saw company), it is a Tygon fuel hose. Tygothane (Saint Gobain is the Manufacturer). He did not mention what inside diameter he used.

I have not read anything that has the Cigar Fuel Return Hose getting eaten up by Biodiesel; so, I do not know if that happens or not. 5/16" Hose should fit there.

Thanks! Good to know that there is "Fuel injection" rated hose. I had wondered about that.
