1991 350SD - need switch over valve information

Just picked up my car and noticed that the switch over valve/solenoid is disconnected. As far as I understand, one vacuum line should go to the ALDA and the other to the intake manifold ... but which vacuum line goes where and how do I check if the switch over valve is functional?

Thanks,

Vlad

I believe the connections are labeled. I just looked at a picture of mine, but it wasn't helpful.

Just plug the hoses into the switchover and drive it. If you do not have the normal amount of pep, change the hoses over. There will be a noticeable difference.

I don't know if that's the case... normally it's set up to connect the two ports, but when it clicks over it blocks one and puts the other to the vent.

J,

Thanks for the scan. Vacuum lines on my switch over valve are color coded (one is clear the other has a stripe). From the scan I cannot really see which one goes where.

Mean while, the car is at a shop right now to fix a major oil leak due to a bad crankshaft seal. And I'm thrilled!

I picked up the car two days ago and the seller told me that he adds about 1 quart every 1,500 miles. OK, that's not good (keep in mind 'rod-bender'), but the price still justified the purchase. The size of the leak @ crankshaft explains the oil usage - I'm happy!

The intake plenum goes to the bottom of the switchover valve, the ALDA to the middle, the upper switchover valve fitting is the vent.
