Standing Water in Hinge Pockets

Not good. Our Holly trees had flowers and between them and the maples, there was a dirty mess in my hings pockets. Enough gunk to clog the water flow and cause standing water in there... That was slimy.

Just a reminder - keep checking those hood hinge pockets and keep them clean/protected!

I need to cut out the bottom of those drain areas in the fender liner - stupid thing is so tight that it is near impossible to clean out on the car. A few holes/cutout would let more gunk come out. Still, if the hole at the top isnt clear, water isnt leaving anyway...

if you cut the holes bigger the gunk will pile up where you cant clean it. I have the same issue with live oak leaves here. I have to air blow them out pretty often to keep them clear

I can't see how bigger holes in the plastic fender liners would be a bad thing. It would make flushing out to below an easier thing. My issue was that once the dirt came from the hood hinge pocket downward, the dirt would catch in the fender liner drain area and prevent water flow.

If the plastic was cut, flushing with the hose would be faster/easier.

Army,

My case was curious. The maple seeds and holly flowers mainly caught in the strip behind the rubber piece that makes the gutter under the rear part of the hood/firewall. Water flows along this gutter and into the hinge pocket to drain. Organic material that collects gets flushed into the pocket to rot.

More from that channel, less from the windshield area pointed to in my situation.
