The pressure switch will not allow current to the compressor if the A/C system pressure is low. You can jump the contacts in the connector to send current to the compressor.
Is the system fully charged?

No, it would not have to be fully charged....
but it would need more than you would want to install just to check the system...and risk losing the refrigerant..
For a quick test you can direct wire the compressor to the battery...
a few seconds will not hurt it..
but do make sure you have checked the oil level in the York... it has a sump unlike our R-4's... You have to make a little dipstick to check it...

You should fully describe the situation you are dealing with to get the most and safest help on the forum.... how long not working... what do you know about it.... etc..

And describe your AC education level....and the tools you own , etc...

I'll start from the bottom and work up.
Skill is nill but getting better.

I described in depth in the vintage mercedes forum.
Came here, hoping a quick question on the problem would get answer to confirm
Will check the oil
Did the direct wire and compressor worked
Will take to shop a pull a vacumn...
Thanks

Perhaps someone with a 77 AC system can cross check your wireing
Thanks for the help

I do not frequent the vintage forum...
and for others to learn from a thread the information would need to be IN this thread...
Your chances of getting good advice are better here because the mod is an AC contractor...

Cool, Thanks for the headup. I thought because I now only have a 77-240d I needed to post there. I will remember. Thanks

Will you be going to the run to Centerville on the 11th? If so look forward to meeting you

The York parts would be great! It is going to be hot!
I was thinking about loading 'AVA' on my trailer and dragging her to Buffalo, while I relish the AC a F-250 provides.
Then I could unload her and drive to Centerville, dont tell anyone.
Thanks for the help and advice

Why are you not going to pull the vacuum yourself ?

Have you read the AC sticky at the top of the page ?

If I go it will be in my old 2001 Lincoln Towncar for the same cool reason.
I see you have a 1980 240d parts car !
