Simply put, if you don't do this your transmission could get sick.
I thought it had to be administered to a horse in increasing dosages....then the plasma from the horse injected into a transmission line by drip....

That's part of the reason he wasn't getting into it. I killed a couple of mules this way...

Better for your transmission as well but I'm not going to discuss it now.

What a cop out... the truth is you have no facts to support your statement and it should be excised from the thread.
Wow! Someone is very sensitive to the subject. Seen it happen on to several Chevy's and Dodges. The cars never had a service interval done on the tranny and at 150K +/- miles they decided to do it. Then shifting became overly soft and in 6K miles needed a rebuild.

I can imagine taking such an aggressive position on something worth while which is almost nothing. But on this? How old are you?

No cop out. Didn't have the time. Was about to do a tranny filter on an explorer. Thats why I chimed in. Now it's done and I have the time. Facts, you know good and well there is almost no such things as that. Hasn't the internet taught you anything?

Derision, the flag of immaturity.

Yes I do know him. He owns a super diesel powered Mercedes with an extra nuclear reactor booster. A fine fellow. I think it was the 111-9 prototype model.

His statement was, "The humans are so serious, and habitually enmesh themselves in trivial affairs. That's why they are all "Princess Pin-drops." Taking up any and all arguments blindly with a foolish bravado lacking in any self-perception."

I hate seeing people post trash which others might misinterpret as valid information and cause them either safety problems or unnecessary expense. It is not fair to the less mechanically schooled to put up junk posts.

Well, I'm grown. I've replaced transmissions, installed shift kits in US transmissions, even rebuilt several TH350's and a TH400. Never got into an overdrive but I'll bet I could handle a 700r4.

Anyway, those are my creds. I have ZERO MB trans creds and I don't think it's a good idea to transfer tricks from US transmissions to German transmissions.

I thought I had heard every voo-doo remedy known to the automotive world but this is new to me.

I gotta hear the rationale...

Relax. I agree with, "I hate seeing people post trash which others might misinterpret as valid information and cause them either safety problems or unnecessary expense."

I've seen tranny's go with a new flush. That's that in my experience. Been on Rovers and Jags for 4 years, Asians another 5, and now have a W123 as personal auto so the behavior of them is new to me. Not uneducated ("schooled" in your ghetto speak). Probably more than you. Just hate a/c work and don't know it/do it.

Hate is a strong word there fellow, and on something as childish as someone on Texas having a 1/2 go around on the internet with a nobody should be so hateful. Certainly you understand that by this time I have been providing myself with entertainment?

if you've done a 400, you can handle a 700r4/4l60 just an extra port on the valve body, and a fancy TC...
the MB is actually easier to work on, VERY VERYVERY robust set of steels! easily 3 times the material as a chevy and twice as many clutches! very strong. no wonder they last so much longer than a chevy trans.
if ONLY they used steel sleeves on the operating passages, the thing would be nigh indestructable. hard rubber digs into aluminum passages. I think at 250K if someone went and replaced all the orings with new and resealed the thing, it'd last to 500K easy. I ought to gather a "johnny rebuild" kit and start doing them...

careful there! posting just for effect can get an infraction now that the trolling rule is up on the main page...
