MBenz brand versus Bilstein struts? w124
 

I replaced the rears with Bilstein comforts, and am pleased, picked them up used from member here.

I think it's time to do the fronts, and just for giggles I asked the dealer for price on front struts. To my amazement, $150 / side. That's about what Bilstein comforts would cost up front, or maybe even a little less.

So what "brand" does Mercedes dealer supply as the official Benz logo'd part?

Can anybody do a compare / contrast between Mercedes struts versus Bilstein comforts, on the front of my 87 300D?

The dealer probably uses Sachs shocks....they tend to be OEM (or were at least) for MB's. I've put them on a few of ours and they perform nicely.

They're probably about the same stiffness. You probably won't be able to tell the difference.

At least the dealer doesn't charge shipping, and there's a postal strike on. They courier stuff around.. looks like a win.
