Push Brake, fuel and temp gauges drop.... 85 300d

Noticed tonight that 'sometimes' when I push the brake,
my car's fuel and temp gauges slowly drop to zero (1-2 seconds). When I let go they return.
It seems to last a few seconds then it goes back to being normal.

Haven't figured out why it is a 'sometimes thing'.

Have had some corrosion issues with my brake lights,
going to go in there when the sun is up and check things out...

Don't see how a brake short would affect those gauges though...
...can someone enlighten me?

Thanks!

Possibly a dodgy ground on the instrument panel - there are several recent threads about this - it seems everyone has the same problems at the same time. May is definitely flickering lights month - last month was slipping transmissions...

Behind the cluster are a series of brown (ground) wires secured to the brake pedal brace under one bolt. Remove and clean these ground connections. The brakes lights activating is taking the ground path from the dash cluster.
