W116 300 SD Window Question

Hello,

I just went through and took off all of my door panels and cleaned and greased the window tracks and door locks etc. My right front and rear go up and down without issue, but my left front and left rear are the problem.

The L/F window will work great when 12v is applied directly to it, but it will no longer work at the switch.

The L/R won't work at all, and hasn't since I've bought the car. I applied 12v to it as well and all I could get out of it was a "tick" sound.

What might I be missing? I was thinking of taking my left switch apart and trying to clean it and see if that might help.

I'd love to hear what other routes I should be taking.

As always, thank you for your time.

Clean switch contacts first.

OK, I just cleaned my switch and found it was nasty. Got it re-installed and the L/F window works like a champ. The L/R still won't budge.

I'm thinking that it probably has a jammed regulator. I suppose it could be the motor as well....but my money is on the regulator.

Thanks all for the help.

my money is on the motor. they dry out (did you know there are grease points on the motor?) and also, when the window felts fail, water drips right into the motor gearbox and siezes the worm gear....

I didn't know that they could dry out. I also didn't know that they had any grease points....good to know.

I was able to acquire a used regulator and motor for a good price so I'll check that out when I go to replace it.

Thanks again for the help.

I am betting your Rear Wondow Regulator is all bent and twisted like happens tho the W123s.
You will not know untl till you pull the suspect rear Window Regulator out and look at all of it and the Motor.

So, where do I get window felts (both sides) for the doors of a 300sd '83?

...it seems this replacement would be a home hobbyist doable job.
