'91 300D starter location
My car wouldn't crank this morning. I have 12+ volts at the battery. The battery terminals aren't loose. All lights are working correctly, glow plugs are cycling. Everything is normal other than the fact it just won't turn over. When I turn the key it seems as if it wants to start but there isn't enough power to make it turn over. I think that I've fumbled with pretty everything else on this car since I've owned except the starter. I don't even know where it is. Thanks for your help.

Not sure if that is your problem but the starter is on the drivers side under the oil filter.

All your trying has probably drained the battery a bit. Best give it a good charge before trying again.

Well I didn't over due it when trying to start it. The battery is fully charged and everything else is functioning correctly. It seems as though the starter is trying to turn the engine, but it just won't.

I've started exploring threads about hydrolocking.

I would check the earth strap from the body to the motor. Unless you have had a sudden loss of coolant or the car had water sprayed into the inlet, hydrolocking is unlikely.

Earth strap, are you referring to the large ground wire? There was a loss of coolant on Tuesday, didn't drive it yesterday and I was attemping to sort out the issue with the coolant loss today and realized that it wouldn't start.
