dual/larger condenser fan ILO parallel flow condenser
I am still going back in forth on changing out the condenser. If I do it it will be a parallel flow unit. However right now I have a new rcvr ?dryr in hand plan to flush the system ( it was converted to 134A years ago, this is the 85 300SD by the way) My question is this any thoughts on the benefit of adding dual E- fans that will move more air than the stock fan. Will this increase the cooling ability enough to make a difference. I have figured that it will be almost half as expensive buying a new Parallel flow condenser and easier to install.
Ideally I would like to do open the system to install the rcvr/dryr, flush fill and be done with it. It seems that by the time I have the extra money to order the new condenser the Summer will be almost gone. I know $150-200. may not seem like a lot but right now we are budgeted to pay off some debts sooooo . Thoughts. Alan

Good morning!
the 85 has a really nice condenser, no reason to put in PF... get it clean, and it will handle the car with ease. save your 150!

Dual fans from a late 124 would get better cooling in there, it's not needed, but it can help compensate for a slipping fan clutch.
be sure and upgrade the wiring to the fans, they pull WAAAY more amps than the stock wires can handle. I'd feed a relay with # 8 and a 30 amp fuse controlled by the stock wire. what's the weather like up your way? have you tinted your windows?

VS Tech, I just finished searching the very ! complete a/c recommendation threads. Great read and helpful. As for the 85 300Sd that is good to know. It was not money I wanted to spend right now ( the suburban needs shocks soooo badly for a trip next month) Glad to know the condenser should be fine.
I did pick up a new rcvr/dryr as well as the switches mounted on it. I do have have the windows tinted but that is definitely on the list ( my 92 500E had them done by dealer and the original owner ) As for the weather it hit 105 degrees with the heat index ( humidity up the whazoooo !) Of course I am working outside in this weather since I have the 911 and the 500E both up on stands in my garage and all this work is being done in the driveway. I have been considering modifying a set of aluminum blinds to place in the rear window ( not motorized like the one in the 500E) just mounted so it has a few degrees of movement. Thanks Alan

What Vstech said PLUS....
clean your evaporator fins... several threads on this... you can have the entire other part of the system PERFECT.....and not get the cooling you want or DESERVE if the evap fins are restricted by decades of nasty build up... use Dmorrison for search name to find good picture ...or bad depending on your mood..... LOL If I upgrade fans I am going to use the single Spal... hum.. in searching accidentally it included this from Dmorrison mentioning the Spal fan... Anyone using a SPAL Electric Fan?

Did you not just make a thread about this a day ago? I outlined what to do...
Dump the crap 134A, revert back to R12, clean all the system components, tint the glass, get on with life. By '85 MB pretty much had the A/C figured out in the 126s.
