My usual finds are crowbars. I've found some screwdrivers. had plenty of guys trying to "find" my tools in the car I'm working on. not found any good tools yet... I'll keep looking though.

I have a set of inexpensive tools I bring to the yard in the event I leave something... that way I am not out $20 for a socket. I have yet to leave anything thankfully. I go over what I have brought twice before I set out.

What have I found in the JY? You name it, I have found it.

Nothing amazes me when I hit the yards.

We removed a fuel tank (leak repair) on an early 80s former greyhound bus that had been converted to a RV, I think an MCI bus, and sandwiched between the tank and mount was a wire stripper/cutter from the MCI factory. It had been sealed for 30 years in the tomb of the fuel tank compartment with the tank sitting on it. Soaked it in simple green, then some sandblasting and oiling, and good as new.

So far I haven't lost anything except a bit of blood, due to glass from a shattered windshield. (Now I bring gloves.)

My dad once found a very nice set of Vise Grips clamped in the wheel well of a Mustang II he bought. The Mustang II is probably a pile of rust by now but I still use those Vise Grips all the time.

6 months ago I found a working mens Gucci watch! I usually find at least one socket or wire cutters every other time there. One day I misplaced my cell phone. I retraced all my steps to all 10 cars I had visited, with no luck. Gave up and went to my car. A guy came up and said "did you loose a cell phone" I said yes and how did you find me? He said he looked for the car that matched the screen saver on my phone!!! My last find was a pair of vise grips clamped to a hard brake line and a small reversable screw driver. I love PICK N PULL!!!

So far I have not lost any tools at PNP.
What I found is a boon to 126 owners. I found a long 3 MM Allen wrench that looks like it was in a MB tool set as it's inset into a long rod that fits the screwdriver handle in the MB sets I have.

In fact I just used it to lean out my 1985 500SEL. Very handy indeed.

Many years ago I worked in a couple of Euro/Japanese junkyards. I never lost any tools, but I found all kinds of things, and I still have a really nice Snap-On ratcheting screwdriver that I found in a wrecked car nearly 25 years ago. I use it all the time.

Was working under a 190E, on removing a transmission when I heard the crunch of feet.
My toolbox was open, and by my feet. I assumed the guy was looking at the interior of the car..
My sense told me that something was wrong, and as I looked... a hand reached into my toolbox..
The feet walked away, and I rolled out from under the car, and reached in and picked up my 3' x 1/2" drive breaker bar.
The guy was walking away.. I called him out.
He responded that he was just borrowing a screwdriver.
I stepped forward and told him to give it back, the breaker bar hanging from my right hand like Dirty Harry's 44 Magnum.
I might add that I am 6'4" and 230lb with a shaved head...
He turned and walked away, I moved after him faster... and he dumped the screwdriver on the hood of the next car and took off running...

Hmmm, thats an idea, just start carrying to the yard. ;) Just stuff the body in a trunk before anyone comes to check out the noise and walk out... Seriously, tool thieves deserve that fate!
