vehicle slows down

My 1987 Mercedes 190D is having problems with losing power even though I excelerate more. This happens climbing hills and sometimes I feel it a little on flat roads too. To climb a small city hill, from a stop, I can't get over 15 mph. If I'm out on the highway going 60 and come to a hill I can't get over 35 mph. It's never been great on hills but not like this. Any ideas?

Inline and canister changed 17,000 ago. The manual said every 30,000 miles. What do you recommend?

Assuming that's the turbo version, that car should fly.

Change filters when they are dirty. It sounds like they are dirty. Could also be a problem with maladjusted accelerator linkage, plugged tank screen or a bad air filter.

It only takes one bad tank of fuel to clog a filter.

from the question in the post before I even opened the thread I was thinking fuel filters.
linkage can cause an issue, but the 190 has few problems with linkage.
