Axle Shaft Replacement Question
I need to change the axle shafts on my 1981 300D. In order to drain the differential what is the hex size? Thank you in advance.

Be sure to clean them out real well. You'll need a sm. pick and brake cleaner. Undo the top one first so that way if it's strips out you'll not be stuck with a empty Diff. If you do not have a 14mm hex yet, when you do get one go for a 1/2" drive USA made . Cheep will likely strip it out if it has not been changed in years. Good luck and stay safe under your car.
Regards

Got the job done. Took me a a couple of evenings, but the first evening was met with an interruption. Keeping my rusty, but very faithful '81 300D on the road. I love the feel of a W123 ride.
