Isn't there also a ' shop made tool' which looks like a long tuning fork suggested in the AC manual for holding the Txvalve... possibly just for the loosening and tightening of the fittings in that awkward place ?
Or maybe someone just made something like that and posted a pic of it ? Or maybe it is just a good idea I dreamed up.. ? LOL

So is it a good idea to change the dryer every so often?

That's the plan. I need to drill down to it and figure out the proper sizes. I'd like to get some line wrenches but will probably settle for open ended type crows feet if that's all I can find.

You dreamed it up. There is no such tool. Never has been, never will be. Now go back to sleep... Maybe you are sleeping...

Just wanted to add that my system was converted to 134a on 10/01 with the drier changed. (No mention of expansion valve) and freon was added again 7/04 and 6/08. I'm currently researching weather patterns, el-nino effects, humidity, sun spot activity, etc for those dates in the locations where the work was performed. This data could prove useful...

I have a bunch of service records up until a few months before I got the car.
