If the sound goes away when you push the clutch in it is likely the throw out bearing. Not hard to fix just a pain to get to it. Dropping the tranny etc.

Don . . . sounds like you need to order a clutch kit, which includes the pressure plate, clutch plate and throwout bearing. They usually sell as a whole unit. The way you work, will probably be in and out for you. Just the cost of the new clutch kit.

So . . . Don . . . you still have the '85 300D, or are you down to the later model?

My grandson and I arrieved around 11 am Milton Fl time and finally after a few false starts were rolling north by 300 pm Davenport time. We rolled in here at about 1230 am. After leaving Davenport my grandson slept for 3 hours without stirring. I took that opportunity to get a good number of miles under our belts.

The most eventful event of the trip back was my bulb out light bonging every few minutes. I was about to shoot the dash board after a while. I could not find any bulbs out. Saw a few deer who looked prepared to commit hari kari by running in front of my truck but fortunately none did.

We stopped and ate in Chiefland near Manatee Springs, a park we have camped at numerous times through the years. We watched Pickers while eating....an episode I have seen before.

Joe was very helpful. Pancakes will be a full on project for me but I am sure will work out to be a nice car when finished.

Abaolutely. Turbodiesel motor, tranny and 307 diff from the 82 300CD, plus speedo, radiator and shifter.

It should be quick and simple to take care of. The motor was freshened about five years ago and runs flawlessly.
