I have no idea if the tires were swapped. I want to know if I can put my CLK wheels/tires on since those are newer and have life in them.
I just peeked in the shifter mechanism area and shifted through the gears and its not smooth by any means. The bushings the shift rods need are on the shifter end. I also tried to adjust the idle. I pushed the go pedal a bit and turned the knob to the left thinking that is to reduce the RPM's and got nothing. the whole assembly just spins. Guess I'll pull the lower dash panel and investigate. Looks like a nice car, And with your car it'll be excellent before long, I'm sure you'll check but look at the front end incase that rear tire was on the front. no nasty surprises then

I agree that those tires were probably on the front for a while.

Yeah, the rear camber shouldn't do that to tires since its not that extreme.
the ends circled need bushings |

the cable is there, I fiddled with the knob when looking at the car, I'll turn it to the right and see what happens.
pressing the off lever doesn't kill the engine. The cable is inhibiting it. Turning it clockwise doesn't do much either. the offset on the clk wheels is 37 |

The camber in your photos doesn't look too bad. Certainly not like it was with the rusted, cracked trailing-arm on my first 240D.
You might need a new idlle-control knob. Often the plastic idle-knob gets stripped from someone forcing it. Do replace any missing shifter bushings. If the shifter feels gummy & balky, first try lubing the shifter-lever pivot from above with oil or ATF. This helped alot with the initially stiff & unpleasent manual shifters on my Euro TD and 240D. Happy Motoring, Mark

Did you verify the color code yet? I'm curious what it is. Looks more like 681 to me.
Are you going to put on the polished CLK wheels or the painted ones? The rear tires could also have that kind of wear if the rear was weighted down quite a bit and the rear sat much lower.

If I can put the CLK's on with the current lugs I will. Also, can someone show me which bushings to get on fastlane or through the dealership, the rod ends that are circled, on my 240D have no bushing in the eyes at all. Which needs to be resolved. All of the other bushings are present and in good shape. |

The lug bolts for the steelies should work perfect on the CLK lightweights.
What's your plan for this baby?

Make sure its good to last so my step dad can drive it until we get another engine or a replacement for the Aveo. Then my sister will buy it off of me.
