Question

ugh- now I've got another leaker! Guessing it is the supply line to the pump, can't really see without taking off the manifold. It appears to be leaking right by the pump. Does anyone know how long this piece of hose is? I can't tell before it disappears into the wrap of hoses how far it extends before a junction to the frame.

I feel your pain. I just replaced all my hoses and connectors. I've still got some kind of air intrusion. I'm set up with Greasecar valves and a 2 tank system. Runs great until I purge and then somehow I'm getting air in there. Taking the manifold off to check it all out is a bloody pain for sure.

BTW, all the hoses and fittings for my '99 E300 came to about $70 from Phil @ Fastlane. So I'm not sure how you got the $122, but maybe mine are slightly different. I am suspecting the one that goes to the banjo bolt because it has an o-ring that didn't come with the replacements, so I'm using the same ol' o-ring.

I just found a neat diagram someone did on MBworld that explains the sequence that the fuel goes through. http://www.mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w124/190143-biodiesel-preparing-e300d.html

Apparently the hose in question runs from the metal pipe right under the washer fluid tank so that helps me.

update- I called the stealership and found out that the part number for the hose I am looking for is 124 476 9726 and they want $54 for it

He could not tell me whether it had any special ends or was simply a 2' long piece of hose.

I really can't take the time to take it all apart enough to actually see that, put it back together and have to end up ordering the hose if it has any special ends on it.

Anyone?

Check with Phil

If you're going to buy the OEM, check with Phil . . . that's what supports this site, BTW. I've avoided the stealership for years by dialing the number to Phil, although, for ****s and giggles, I do call the dealership just to hear what they want for the same part. Phil has been overnighting parts to me in BFE for years, and a lot cheaper than the competition . . . so, order the part from him before you tear anything apart. Lemme know how much the one he has costs!!! ROFL. The diff will cover the cost of overnight express.

Just my two cents worth (o dos centavos),

Torie

Also, if you have one rubber fuel line going out . . . replace all of them . . . don't be cheap, like my ex-husband, who in his zeal to save money replaced the hoses one at a time, in stead of all at once (only one coolant change)!!!! It would sure beat having to take everything apart again, even if you get a year before the next one goes. Then you can assume that however old the pulled out ones are, you won't have to worry about the others for the same amount of time!!!

Of course I won't be buying it from the dealer. My question is if anyone knows if this hose has special connections or is simply a fuel hose that I can replace for $10 from the auto parts store. I only want to remove the intake, etc once

elbow hose

I'm replacing all of my fuel line in a couple of weeks and the curved hose on my 95 is leaky. I ain't payin no $95 for no 2" 90 degree hose either. I found a bmw part - 8mm fuel hose elbow for about $15 shipped at: http://www.**********.com/Part-Number/Fuel-Hose-8-mm-Elbow-Hose-__13531726960_GEN_E095124A.aspx

I'm betting that this will work.

(I ordered $300+ worth of parts from Phil on Monday)

I too was wondering about working a fair sized loop into the system with a much longer piece of hose and feeding it back to the fitting. Or grabbing a good looking one off a salvage car if there were many to be had in my area.

Chances would be that if there were say six salvage cars in my area one of them might have a fairly reciently replaced factory hose.

I found this locally for about $5. Dorman part #46002. It is listed as emission hose, but looking at the cross section, it looks identical to fuel hose. The OD is slightly larger so new clamps are required.

You could have used a short length of SAE30R9 fuel injection hose which is biodiesel rated and bend it to the same radius as the OEM hose. The trick is put a tight fitting coil spring around the hose to support it so it does not collapse and pinch.
