it's a fine city car, and an OK highway car, but merging and such is hampered by the lack of power. be SURE and have fresh fuel filters, as ANY clogging and you loose quite a bit of power.
Blue is pretty, lack of split seat is a bummer, as is the non 3rd row... but if you don't have small kids, it's no biggie.
check the craigslist alert thread above, and look at the two wagons for sale in TX at the moment... less than $200...

Sunroof.

Couldn't agree more about sunroof problems. My '83 is just like your 240, options wise, Leatherman. Just an extra hole in the block! The sliding roofs on the wagons weren't that hard to maintain, though. When they work, they're real nice!

The lack of a split seat wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me, either. Nice, but easy enough to work around.

That China blue is so pretty when its all shined up. Had an '82 wagon, China blue w/mushroom on the inside. Nice color combo. Sold that one to a different friend who ran it out of oil.

Jay.

The thing is that here in the middle of Texas... there is NO PLEASANT time to open up the roof.... Where you are I am sure there are nice days for that...

There you go with the "it's hot" again Greg, wifey is sitting right next to me on her computer. I seem to remember you having a shady oak tree or two out to the farm, and as I recall it was about this time of year that you, Randy and I sat out in the field shooting the breeze (maybe that was why it wasn't so hot ).

I looked at both listings Vstech referenced. First thought was they were tow yard lien sales due to the grease pen writing, may be. One has unspecified mechanical damage the other has minor body damage. The second could be a nice parts donor for Randy's Marlene. Neither are high mileage according to the dash pics, the mechanical damage one is 166K and the second is 133K but the interior looks like it has many more miles. Who knows when the odometers stopped working on these? These are also open auctions, open until 7/14 so no telling where they'll end up.

Seeing as how I have drug MB's home from a junk yard, in pieces on a trailer in the past and then spent a few months putting them back together I am looking forward to possibly only having to do a little minor maintenance before use. I really don't know how this wagon is appointed as I haven't seen it yet and I didn't ask. If it has a sun roof or not that doesn't matter, while a sun roof is nice it isn't a requirement.

If you have the room... you can't have too many parts cars.... IF you want to get these you can park them here until you can deal with them...
