the to do list shrinks

Thanks to everyone's help here, my to do list on my recently purchased 83 240 is shrinking down to size. The transmission no shifts properly the air conditioner conditions, and the number of vacuum leaks has diminished to a point where the vacuum pump can actually overcome the loses. I'm primed for the electric windows and the leaks in the doors are only a matter of time now.

Cool. I've abandoned my list because my cars have their own ideas.

It's like playing Whack-A-Mole...

All a moot point now anyway

Some dumb t*&^ just pulled a left turn in front of me. now I've got to deal with the insurance Co. (American family) anyone have any experience with these guys? Both cars have Am Fam . It was her fault and she was cited.

Wow, within three hours of feeling good about your list...and this happens ? So Sorry to hear that !!!!!

and your phrasing was very funny in the first post... being thankful for small gains is very helpful dealing with these old cars...

by 'moot point'... do you mean you think they will 'total' it ?

Reminds me of when the same thing happened to me.

I'm going down a one way with two lanes. I'm in the left hand lane. A lady in an SUV starts to pass me on the right, gets a bit in front of me and abruptly decides to make a quick left hand turn. Needless to say, I smacked her despite my best efforts not to.

I was driving my old Saturn which got toasted. I replaced it with my first Mercedes - an 81 240D. Was looking for another Saturn and there wasn't one.

So... good things CAN come out of bad incidents.

Make sure you get your fair value for the car if they total it, if they fix it, make sure it's fixed right (remember, being in an accident will ruin an otherwise clean carfax), if they total it then buy it back for a parts car.

Also, you may have as yet unrealized neck problems. Make sure you see a doctor.

"damnage"

I don't trust insurance company's one little bit. Yes I think they will try to total it out. It's not heavily damaged, but I've had an experience where an insurance prick tried to total my motorcycle out for a lousy $500 once so,,,,
Anyway the damage is the grill, hood, rubber on the bumper, the bumper mounts. and the mounting piece for the headlights, and radiator is pushed back. Of course, now the car wont have a clean Carfax or an original paint job. The POS Kia Reo went home on a hook with the right front wheel dangling. I drove mine home. Another thing that bites is I'm on vacation and now I have got to hang around and deal with this when I should be fishing!
