Question for AC gurus...

My compressor has a #10 suction line (5/8) #24610 and a #8 discharge (GM 1/2 dual) #24608.

Does the "Dual" just mean that the size is the same from "GM" to metric?

It's a Sanden "FK" head with the R12 ports built into the head.

This AC hose stuff has me confused and any enlightenment would be welcome!

I'm planning on using this condenser:

The inlet is #8 (Which matches the discharge from the compressor) but the drier outlet is a #6. I'll have to do a #6 to flare for the TXV , and then a flare to #10 for the suction side of the compressor. The hose sizes/fittings have me a little confused.

you don't want a/c gurus you want a line guru... us a/c techs rarely deal with lines themselves other than swapping what the auto parts stores sell us.
I'd call NAPA and ask them what to do. they might even know the answer to the question...

There are some good threads in the archives having to do with the size condensor which can fit into the allotted space...
AND might have discussions about thread and hose matching up...
There are specialty AC shops generally used by HVAC non car guys which can have all sorts of good stuff usable in cars.... like adapter fittings from one size or style to another. Ours in Austin (Nelson's specialty supply ) closed when the owner retired.... bummer...

A true, fully enlightened AC guru who has been to the mountaintop knows these things...

I'll check with NAPA or find a local hose shop who can help me with these things. I don't like ordering stuff like this online.

A few years ago I converted a w126 to a parallel flow codenser when I converted it to r134 and the way I did it I bolted everything in, plugged everything where the new fittings had to be made up, took the car to his shop and left it till he made up the hoses. Worked out pretty well.

Tubes N Hoses, Macon, Ga. He has since gone out of business. I'm sure there is a place close to Ellaville where he could do the same thing.

I've dealt with them before, years ago. Shame they are out of business :(
