New Memeber of the Fleet- 1985 300D Turbo

I made the decision to sell the 1976 300D and upgrade to a turbodiesel, and i must say i think it was a good decision.

Its Light Ivory on Palomino with 242K on the clock. Car is rust free, however there is some damage under the front left turn signal and bumper which i will take care of. Everything on the car works great, AC blows cold, all vacuum actuators in the climate control system are new.

Car does need some attention, however it needs nothing immediately.

Some of you might remember this car, back in 2009 it was owned by our forum member Hip001 and was at some of our Central FL GTG's. I had forgotten about it until Pierre reminded me haha.

I'll post pictures soon, weather is bad in Jax today...

Yes Colin thats the one! I'll have more pictures soon when the weather clears up.

I had the 1976 300D on ebay and it sold to a guy in New Jersey, one day he says he will completely restore the car. I'm glad it went to a good home. I just needed a better daily driver...

I still have the 1979 280CE, so my name 79mercy is still relevant hahah.

Ohh wow I think I saw your car on there... Watched it actually... Went for $6.5k right? Beautiful car... English Red is probably one of the best colors for the W115

Nice, nice '85 300D. Though I also really like your W115 300D.

I would love to read your driving comparison of both cars

UPDATE: 4/5/12

I thought I would update this thread, the 1985 300D is doing great, its has 253K on it now, the only issue I had was the starter went out so I replaced it with a Bosch reman unit.

I have completely rebuilt the front suspension, replaced motor mounts, oil cooler hoses, and all the other regular stuff. Had to do the turbo drain tube seals and lower pan gasket and oil filter housing gasket. Had our forum member, Jamesdean, repair the cruise amp so now that works great. It also has rebuilt injectors in it.

The motor and tranny are performing great, knock on wood and with the new injectors I saw 27.6MPG on the last tank.

As you can see I repaired the damage under the front bumper myself prior to installing the euros, see the old pic in this thread and I installed euro bumpers from a 280 and put on a euro tag.

It has Bosch H4 headlights on it, much improvement over the sealed beams

New headlight doors and new grill shell.

Painted the bundts the correct color
