The pre-chambers would need to be horrible to cause this.
as per post #19 in this thread, that's why I was trying to steer OP away from yanking the car to pieces, to do the obvious

You are not a very careful reader.
I said that it was tested by a group of MB people from this forum when its prior owner (Brian ) trailered it from the Ft. Worth area when I was the cook for TxBills's sponsored Austin,Tx get together...I was in the kitchen all that time.... I have never checked the compression on it... they claimed they could get no reading on the number one cylinder ...I just know it has gotten 24 mpg ever since I got it and it is a fine little car after I corrected the multiple oil leak spots...including what looked to be the original beat up copper crush washer on the oil drain plug.
