Hood Pad "Repair" Question

The front part of my hood pad is falling down. As you might guess, it's not a clean separation from the hood; instead, the material in the middle of the pad is separating. I really don't want to go to the expense of replacing the pad. What I'd like to try is simply knocking off any loose pieces, applying 3m 8090 liberally, and pushing it back into place.

Will this hold or not?

I know you meant 8090....
If you clean off the old contact cement first...
but if you leave it then you are just attaching to it...
and it probably won't last long...

I screwed (could rivet, too) a strip of sheet metal across the front of D's hood four years ago just for this reason.I've also sewn safety wire with some success on other rigs. The trick is to keep any edges out of the fan blast.
